Raises Funds For Old Tower ~ The Tower Bond (now closed)
Clapham
parish church is dedicated to St.James. Its tower may date back
to 1160AD, the date of the first record of a priest attached to
this church. In recent years local people have been working hard
to raise more than £80,000 to pay for modernisation and improvements
in the ancient tower - a toilet and small kitchen for parish events,
electical winding for the 19th. century tower clock, three additional
church bells, a new safer frame to hold all six bells and two new
floors to replace the old unsafe structures.

bell ringers and organisers of the Tower Bond Draw wish to thank

over the past two years. Supporters' generosity has raised a large
amount of money towards
the cost of refurbishing and upgrading the ancient church tower."
The final Tower Bond Draw took place at the New Inn on 20th June
